The Fire Party Penguins Mustn't Go Out
This is a piece of interactive fiction created for the Kindred Game Jam 5, with the themes "The fire mustn't go out" and "Penguin Party".
To Play, click "Run Game" then click "Play In-Browser". It is also recommended to check out the "Introduction to IF" pdf or the "IF Postcard" if you've never played a text adventure or Interactive Fiction game before, these will provide hints and some examples of the kinds of commands that are possible.
Interactive Fiction is an older type of computer game that involves typing what you desire to do. Typical things that can be done are Examining things, looking around, and taking things. It can be useful to try out different verbs to see if they are recognized or not, if they seem to make sense for the game.
Some actions that will be useful for playing this game:
- "look" to see the description of the room you're currently in.
- "examine <object>" to look more closely at an object
- "take <object>" to pick up the object
- "go through <door>" to go through a door you know the name of.
- "inventory" to see what objects you're holding
- "eat <object>" to eat an edible object
- "drink <object>" to drink a drinkable object
- "ask <someone> about <something>" to ask a person about something
- "give <object> to <someone>" to give an object to a person
- "north" to go north
- "south" to go south
- "east" to go east
- "west" to go west
- "inside" to go inside something, from a place where there is something to go inside
- "outside" to go outside from a place where there is something to go outside
- "open <something>" to open a container
- "unlock <something> with <held object>" to unlock something with something you are holding
